The Cardinal Chronicle Farm Report is your most complete daily look at the Cardinals’ minor league system — from box scores and standings to standout performances, prospect notes and the daily Top 30 Prospect Watch.
Saturday’s report was built around a dominant Memphis win, a strong but tough-luck pitching performance in Peoria and a quiet night for Palm Beach.
Leo Bernal, the MLB Pipeline No. 6 prospect in the Cardinals’ system, earned Player of the Day honors after driving in four runs for Memphis. Jacob Odle, the MLB Pipeline No. 13 prospect, earned Pitcher of the Day honors after striking out seven over 4.2 innings for Peoria without allowing an earned run.
Springfield’s game at Arkansas was suspended by rain in the bottom of the seventh inning with the score tied, 1-1. It will be completed Sunday, Aug. 23.
The completed full-season affiliates finished 1-2.
Memphis Redbirds — Triple-A
Overall Record: 69-56
Second Half: 22-28, 8th in the International League West, 8.0 GB
Streak: W2
Memphis 10, Jacksonville 0
Memphis left no doubt Saturday night.
The Redbirds shut out Jacksonville, 10-0, behind 10 hits, seven walks and a pitching staff that allowed only two hits while striking out 13.
The biggest swing belonged to Leo Bernal, the MLB Pipeline No. 6 prospect in the Cardinals’ system. Bernal went 1-for-4 with his 16th home run, four RBIs, a run scored and a walk.
His final line: 1-for-4, HR, 4 RBI, R, BB
Bernal pushed his RBI total to 77 and continued to show why his bat remains part of the upper-level catching conversation.
Victor Scott II went 1-for-3 with a double, three runs scored, an RBI, two walks and his 19th stolen base. Colton Ledbetter went 2-for-3 with a run scored, two walks and two stolen bases, giving him 23 steals on the season.
Noah Mendlinger added three hits, including a double, and drove in a run. Ramon Mendoza doubled, scored twice and drove in his 46th run. Nolan Gorman drove in two runs.
On the mound, Cooper Hjerpe, the MLB Pipeline No. 16 prospect, opened with 3.2 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and five walks while striking out seven.
His final line: 3.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 5 BB, 7 K
The walks kept him from working deeper, but the swing-and-miss was there.
Pete Hansen followed with 3.1 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out two. Cade Winquest finished it with two perfect innings and four strikeouts.
Brycen Mautz, the MLB Pipeline No. 23 prospect, also worked a scoreless inning.
Takeaway: Bernal supplied the big swing, Scott and Ledbetter created pressure, and the Memphis pitching staff put together a two-hit shutout.
Springfield Cardinals — Double-A
Overall Record: 62-55
Second Half: 31-18, 1st in the Texas League North, 2.5 games ahead
Streak: W4
Springfield 1, Arkansas 1 — Suspended, bottom of the seventh
Springfield’s game at Arkansas was suspended by rain in the bottom of the seventh inning with the score tied, 1-1.
The game will be completed Sunday, Aug. 23.
Because the game was not completed, the Springfield box score will be carried forward once play resumes.
Takeaway: Springfield remains in first place, but Saturday’s game will have to be finished Sunday.
Peoria Chiefs — High-A
Overall Record: 56-62
Second Half: 24-28, 5th in the Midwest League West, 9.5 GB
Streak: L1
Lansing 1, Peoria 0
Peoria wasted a strong outing from Jacob Odle, the MLB Pipeline No. 13 prospect in the Cardinals’ system.
Odle worked 4.2 innings, allowing three hits, one unearned run and two walks while striking out seven in a 1-0 loss to Lansing.
His final line: 4.2 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 7 K
That is the kind of line that deserves a better result.
Odle gave Peoria a chance, missed bats and kept Lansing from doing much of anything offensively. The only run of the game came in the first inning, and it was unearned.
Gerardo Salas recorded the final out for Peoria.
The offense, however, could not break through.
Peoria had four hits, all doubles. Ian Petrutz went 2-for-3 with two doubles, while Cade McGee also went 2-for-2 with two doubles. That was the entire Chiefs offense.
Takeaway: Odle was excellent, but Peoria could not turn four doubles into a run and lost a tough one.
Palm Beach Cardinals — Low-A
Overall Record: 59-60
Second Half: 26-27, 2nd in the Florida State League East, 7.0 GB
Streak: L1
Fort Myers 5, Palm Beach 2
Palm Beach scored early but had only one hit in a 5-2 loss to Fort Myers.
That one hit came from Ryan Mitchell, the MLB Pipeline No. 24 prospect in the Cardinals’ system. Mitchell went 1-for-3 with his 13th home run, an RBI, two runs scored and his 37th stolen base.
His final line: 1-for-3, HR, RBI, 2 R, SB
Mitchell drove in his 48th run of the season and accounted for nearly all of Palm Beach’s offense.
Miguel Hernández drove in the other run, while Sebastian Dos Santos, the MLB Pipeline No. 14 prospect, walked twice.
On the mound, Payton Graham gave Palm Beach three no-hit, scoreless innings with one walk and three strikeouts.
His final line: 3.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 3 K
The game turned later, as Fort Myers scored once in the fourth, once in the sixth and three times in the seventh.
Takeaway: Mitchell homered and stole a base, Graham gave Palm Beach a clean start, but the Cardinals were held to one hit.

Peoria lost a tough 1-0 game despite a strong start from Odle. Palm Beach had only one hit, but Mitchell made it count with a home run.
Springfield and Arkansas were tied, 1-1, when rain suspended the game in the bottom of the seventh. That game will be completed Sunday.
The completed affiliates finished 1-2, but the Top 30 Prospect Watch still had plenty to track.
