Cardinals Sign First-Round Pick Trevor Condon for $5.16 Million
St. Louis, MO

The St. Louis Cardinals have officially signed first-round draft pick Trevor Condon, completing a deal worth $5.16 million.
Condon, selected with the 13th overall pick in the 2026 MLB Draft, agreed to a signing bonus that came in $440,000 below the assigned slot value of $5.6 million.
The savings provide the Cardinals with additional flexibility within their draft bonus pool as they continue finalizing agreements with the remainder of their 2026 draft class.
Condon was one of the most intriguing high school players available in this year’s draft, offering an impressive combination of athleticism, speed, defensive ability and offensive upside. The Cardinals selected him with the belief that he possesses the tools to develop into a legitimate impact player at the major league level.
A five-tool outfielder, Condon has drawn attention for his ability to affect the game in several ways. He runs well, covers ground defensively and has the arm strength to handle all three outfield positions. At the plate, he already shows an advanced feel for hitting, with the potential to develop additional power as he matures physically.
The Cardinals have emphasized athleticism, character and long-term upside under president of baseball operations Chaim Bloom, and Condon checks each of those boxes.
Signing for below slot does not diminish the organization’s commitment to him. It reflects the strategy required under Major League Baseball’s draft bonus system, where every dollar saved on one selection can potentially be redirected toward another player later in the draft.
That flexibility could prove valuable as the Cardinals work to sign several high-upside players who may require bonuses above their assigned slot values.
Condon now officially enters a Cardinals farm system that has grown considerably deeper over the past two seasons. While his development will require patience, his athletic ability and overall ceiling make him one of the most exciting young players in the organization.
The Cardinals entered the 2026 MLB Draft looking to add impact talent throughout the system. With Condon officially under contract, the centerpiece of that draft class is now in place.
