Cardinals Shuffle Arms Across the System
St. Louis, Mo. — By Ray Mileur
The St. Louis Cardinals made a trio of pitching moves Tuesday, continuing what has become a steady early-season reshaping of the club’s minor league depth chart.
Right-handers Rubén Menes and Patrick Galle were promoted from the Palm Beach Cardinals to the Peoria Chiefs, giving Peoria two new bullpen arms as the Chiefs continue the Midwest League schedule.
Meanwhile, left-hander Jack Findlay earned the call from Peoria to the Springfield Cardinals — a notable step up the organizational ladder and another sign that the front office is rewarding performance while aggressively challenging young arms.
For Menes and Galle, the move to Peoria offers a chance to prove themselves against tougher High-A competition. For Findlay, Double-A Springfield is often where prospects begin separating themselves from the pack. Around baseball, old scouts have long said, “A player’s future starts to come into focus at Double-A.”
That’s where Findlay now finds himself.
These moves may not grab headlines in St. Louis, but they quietly shape the next wave of pitching depth in the Cardinals organization.
Old School Take: A pitching pipeline is built one promotion at a time. No fanfare, no fireworks — just opportunity, performance and the next man climbing the ladder.
