Farm Report: Dos Santos Homers Twice, Molina Dominates for Memphis

Sunday was another strong day across the Cardinals’ system.
Memphis finished off a shutout win behind six scoreless innings from Mason Molina. Springfield broke open a close game late and won again at Corpus Christi. Palm Beach turned its lineup loose in a 13-run win over Daytona. Peoria dropped a close one to Quad Cities.
The Cardinals’ full-season affiliates finished 3-1.
Sebastian Dos Santos, the MLB Pipeline No. 14 prospect, earned Hitter of the Day honors after going 2-for-3 with two home runs, two RBIs, two runs scored and two walks for Palm Beach. Mason Molina, the MLB Pipeline No. 18 prospect, earned Pitcher of the Day honors after working six scoreless innings for Memphis.
Memphis Redbirds — Triple-A
Overall Record: 76-62
Second Half: 29-34, 8th in the International League West, 7.0 GB
Streak: W4
Memphis 3, Durham 0
Memphis made it four straight with a clean shutout win.
The Redbirds beat Durham, 3-0, scoring once in the second and twice in the third. Memphis finished with three runs on six hits, while the pitching staff held Durham scoreless on two hits.
Chase Davis drove in two runs and doubled. Zach Levenson homered and drove in the other Memphis run. Noah Mendlinger went 2-for-4 and scored, while Ramon Mendoza also scored.
On the mound, this was Mason Molina’s day.
Molina worked six scoreless innings, allowing two hits and one walk while striking out nine.
His final line: 6.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 9 K
Andrew Schultz followed with two scoreless innings, and Ryan Murphy worked a clean ninth. Memphis pitchers combined for a two-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts.
Takeaway: Memphis has won four straight, and Molina gave the Redbirds one of the best starts in the system this week.
Springfield Cardinals — Double-A
Overall Record: 74-57
Second Half: 43-20, 1st in the Texas League North, 6.0 games ahead

Springfield 8, Corpus Christi 2
Springfield keeps putting wins away.
The Cardinals beat Corpus Christi, 8-2, using a six-run eighth inning to break open a close game. Springfield finished with eight runs on seven hits and held the Hooks to three hits.
Jesús Báez, the MLB Pipeline No. 21 prospect, had the big offensive day, going 3-for-5 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored. Ian Petrutz also homered and drove in four.
Rainiel Rodriguez, the MLB Pipeline No. 1 prospect, went 1-for-4 with a walk. Tre Richardson III had a hit, a run and a walk, while Cade McGee scored and stole a base.
On the mound, Yhoiker Fajardo, the MLB Pipeline No. 11 prospect, allowed two runs over 3.2 innings, and then the bullpen took over. Michael Watson, Nolan Sparks, Randel Clemente and Darlin Saladin combined for 5.1 scoreless innings, allowing no hits while striking out 10.
Takeaway: Springfield won its fourth straight, moved six games up in the Texas League North, and got a dominant night from the bullpen.
Peoria Chiefs — High-A
Overall Record: 63-68
Second Half: 31-34, 5th in the Midwest League West, 9.5 GB

Quad Cities 3, Peoria 2
The Chiefs fell 3-2 to Quad Cities despite matching the River Bandits with seven hits. Quad Cities scored twice in the first and once in the eighth, while Peoria scored single runs in the third and fifth.
Yordalin Peña supplied the offense, going 2-for-4 with two home runs, two RBIs and two runs scored.
His final line: 2-for-4, 2 HR, 2 RBI, 2 R
José Suárez added two hits. Caden Ferraro and Tristan Bissetta each doubled. Brayden Smith stole his fourth base.
On the mound, Cade Crossland, the MLB Pipeline No. 28 prospect, gave Peoria six strong innings. He allowed five hits, two runs, one earned, and two walks while striking out four.
His final line: 6.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 4 K
Liam Best worked a scoreless seventh, while Dylan Driessen and Rubén Menes covered the final two innings.
Takeaway: Peña homered twice and Crossland gave Peoria a quality start, but the Chiefs could not find the tying run after Quad Cities scored in the eighth.
Palm Beach Cardinals — Low-A
Overall Record: 67-65
Second Half: 34-32, 2nd in the Florida State League East, 3.5 GB

Palm Beach 13, Daytona 5
Palm Beach powered up in a big way.
The Cardinals beat Daytona, 13-5, scoring five runs in the first, then adding runs in the third, fourth, sixth and eighth. Palm Beach finished with 13 runs on 11 hits and five home runs.
Sebastian Dos Santos, the MLB Pipeline No. 14 prospect, led the way, going 2-for-3 with two home runs, two RBIs, two runs scored and two walks.
His final line: 2-for-3, 2 HR, 2 RBI, 2 R, 2 BB
Owen Henne also homered, went 2-for-5 and drove in four. J.P. Cabrera went 2-for-5 with a double, a home run and four RBIs. Gabe Camacho homered, drove in a run and scored twice.
Alexander Frias, the MLB Pipeline No. 4 prospect, went 1-for-2 with three walks and two runs scored. Ryan Mitchell, the MLB Pipeline No. 24 prospect, reached twice, scored twice and walked.
On the mound, Brian Garmon worked two scoreless innings with four strikeouts. Nathan Shinn finished with two innings, allowing one unearned run. Palm Beach pitchers struck out 10.
Takeaway: Palm Beach hit five home runs, scored 13 runs and moved within 3.5 games in the Florida State League East.

Sunday belonged to the pitching in Memphis and the power in Palm Beach.
