Farm Report: Gurevitch Powers Springfield, Van Dyke Fans 11

Wednesday was a clean sweep.
Memphis shut out Charlotte. Springfield kept rolling. Peoria won late behind power and pitching. Palm Beach held off Dunedin.
The full-season affiliates finished 4-0.
Jack Gurevitch, the MLB Pipeline No. 30 prospect in the Cardinals’ system, earned Hitter of the Day honors after going 3-for-4 with two home runs, a double, five RBIs, two runs scored and a walk in Springfield’s 14-4 win over San Antonio.
Ty Van Dyke earned Pitcher of the Day honors after striking out 11 over five innings in Peoria’s 5-4 win over West Michigan.
Memphis Redbirds — Triple-A
Overall Record: 70-58
Second Half: 23-30, 9th in the International League West, 10.0 GB
Streak: W1
Memphis 2, Charlotte 0
Memphis got back in the win column with a 2-0 shutout of Charlotte.
The Redbirds scored both runs in the fourth inning, and that was enough behind a strong outing from Mason Molina, the MLB Pipeline No. 18 prospect in the Cardinals’ system.
Molina worked five scoreless innings, allowing five hits, no walks and striking out nine.
His final line: 5.0 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 9 K
That is a clean, efficient pitching line.
At the plate, Ramon Mendoza doubled and drove in a run. Colton Ledbetter also drove in a run. Victor Scott II, Leo Bernal, Mendoza and Brody Moore each had a hit.
Leo Bernal, the MLB Pipeline No. 6 prospect, went 1-for-2 with a walk, while Thomas Saggese reached twice with two walks and scored a run.
Takeaway: Molina carried the night for Memphis, striking out nine in a five-inning shutout win.
Springfield Cardinals — Double-A
Overall Record: 66-55
Second Half: 35-18, 1st in the Texas League North, 5.0 games ahead
Streak: W8
Springfield 14, San Antonio 4
Springfield is not slowing down.
The Cardinals beat San Antonio, 14-4, behind 13 hits, 10 walks and four home runs. The win pushed Springfield’s streak to eight straight and kept the Cardinals firmly in first place in the Texas League North.
Jack Gurevitch, the MLB Pipeline No. 30 prospect, had the loudest offensive night in the system, going 3-for-4 with two home runs, a double, five RBIs, two runs scored and a walk.
His final line: 3-for-4, 2 HR, 2B, 5 RBI, 2 R, BB
Jesús Báez, the MLB Pipeline No. 21 prospect, stayed hot as well, going 3-for-5 with two doubles, a home run, four RBIs and three runs scored. Báez now has an OPS over 1.000 at Springfield.
Tai Peete, the MLB Pipeline No. 19 prospect, reached base five times, going 3-for-4 with three runs scored, three RBIs, two walks and a stolen base.
Deniel Ortiz, the MLB Pipeline No. 27 prospect, added another home run, drove in a run, walked and stole a base. Won-Bin Cho doubled, walked and scored. Tre Richardson III went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs, two walks and a stolen base.
On the mound, Tanner Franklin, the MLB Pipeline No. 5 prospect, worked 5.1 innings, allowing five hits, two earned runs and two walks while striking out five.
Chen-Wei Lin, the MLB Pipeline No. 29 prospect, covered the final 3.2 innings, allowing two runs and striking out one.
Takeaway: Springfield has won eight straight, and the lineup looks dangerous from top to bottom. Gurevitch, Báez and Peete carried another big offensive night.
Peoria Chiefs — High-A
Overall Record: 58-63
Second Half: 26-29, 5th in the Midwest League West, 9.5 GB
Streak: W2
Peoria 5, West Michigan 4
Peoria won its second straight, rallying late for a 5-4 win over West Michigan.
The Chiefs trailed 2-1 entering the eighth before scoring four runs to take control. West Michigan made it close with runs in the eighth and ninth, but Peoria held on.
Ty Van Dyke gave the Chiefs the pitching performance of the night.
Van Dyke worked five innings, allowing three hits, one earned run and three walks while striking out 11.
His final line: 5.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 11 K
That is a lot of swing-and-miss.
Peoria’s staff finished with 15 strikeouts.
At the plate, Andrew Williamson hit his second home run and drove in two. Cade McGee hit his 13th home run and drove in a run. Anyelo Encarnación went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, while Brayden Smith doubled.
Takeaway: Van Dyke struck out 11, the Chiefs hit two home runs, and Peoria found enough late offense to win its second straight.
Palm Beach Cardinals — Low-A
Overall Record: 61-61
Second Half: 28-28
Streak: W1
Palm Beach 5, Dunedin 3
Palm Beach scored early and held on for a 5-3 win over Dunedin.
The Cardinals scored two in the first, one in the second, one in the third and one in the fourth, then let the pitching staff make the lead stand.
Trevor Condon went 1-for-4 with an RBI, a run scored and a walk. Alexander Frias, the MLB Pipeline No. 4 prospect, went 1-for-4 with two RBIs and a stolen base.
Sebastian Dos Santos, the MLB Pipeline No. 14 prospect, drove in a run. Gabe Camacho went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Dee Kennedy scored twice, walked twice and stole a base. Miguel Hernández walked twice, scored and stole a base.
On the mound, Gabriel Chinchilla struck out eight over four innings, allowing one run on one hit.
His final line: 4.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 8 K
The Palm Beach staff finished with 16 strikeouts. Nathan Shinn worked 1.2 scoreless innings with three strikeouts, and Yadiel Batista struck out three in the ninth.
Takeaway: Palm Beach walked six times, stole three bases and got 16 strikeouts from the pitching staff in a 5-3 win.

Rainiel Rodriguez, MLB Pipeline No. 1, went 0-for-5 with an RBI, a run scored and a walk for Springfield.
Alexander Frias, MLB Pipeline No. 4, went 1-for-4 with two RBIs and a stolen base for Palm Beach.

Van Dyke missed bats all night for Peoria.

He struck out 11 and helped set the tone for a Peoria staff that finished with 15 strikeouts in a 5-4 win.
The Final Word
Wednesday was a perfect night on the farm.
Memphis won a shutout behind Molina. Springfield won its eighth straight and turned Route 66 Stadium into another power show. Peoria got 11 strikeouts from Van Dyke and rallied late. Palm Beach scored early, struck out 16 and held on.
The affiliates finished 4-0.
Springfield remains the headline act, and the lineup is getting hard to ignore.
Gurevitch homered twice.
Báez drove in four.
Peete reached five times.
Van Dyke struck out 11.
Molina put up zeros.
