Memphis did not play Friday night. The Redbirds’ game at Charlotte was postponed because of rain and severe thunderstorms in Mecklenburg County. No game was completed, and the Redbirds and Knights are scheduled to make up the game as part of a doubleheader Saturday.
On the field, Springfield kept rolling, Peoria delivered a one-hit shutout, and Palm Beach let one get away late.
The completed full-season affiliates finished 2-1.
Josiah Ragsdale, the MLB Pipeline No. 10 prospect in the Cardinals’ system, earned Hitter of the Day honors after going 2-for-2 with a home run, a double, an RBI, three runs scored and three walks for Springfield. Jacob Odle, the MLB Pipeline No. 13 prospect, earned Pitcher of the Day honors after working 4.1 scoreless innings with seven strikeouts in Peoria’s one-hit shutout.
Memphis Redbirds — Triple-A
Overall Record: 71-58
Second Half: 24-30, 9th in the International League West, 9.5 GB
Streak: W2
Memphis at Charlotte — postponed
Memphis’ Friday night game at Charlotte was postponed because of rain and severe thunderstorms in Mecklenburg County.
No box score was completed for the Redbirds, and the game is scheduled to be made up as part of a doubleheader Saturday.
Takeaway: Memphis gets an unscheduled night off before a Saturday doubleheader against Charlotte.
Springfield Cardinals — Double-A
Overall Record: 68-55
Second Half: 37-18, 1st in the Texas League North, 6.0 games ahead
Streak: W10
Springfield 10, San Antonio 6
Springfield has turned winning into a habit.
The Cardinals beat San Antonio, 10-6, Friday night at Route 66 Stadium, extending their winning streak to 10 games. Springfield jumped out early with five runs in the first inning and two more in the second, then held on after San Antonio tried to climb back into the game.
Josiah Ragsdale, the MLB Pipeline No. 10 prospect, was the offensive engine.
His final line: 2-for-2, HR, 2B, RBI, 3 R, 3 BB
That is reaching base all night.
Ragsdale scored three times, walked three times, doubled and homered. Won-Bin Cho added one of the biggest swings of the night, going 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs. Tai Peete, the MLB Pipeline No. 19 prospect, went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a walk. Rainiel Rodriguez, the MLB Pipeline No. 1 prospect, reached three times with a hit, two walks and two runs scored.
Ryan Campos, Trey Paige and Jon Jon Gazdar each drove in a run, while Gazdar also stole his 11th base.
On the mound, Braden Davis worked five innings, allowing four hits, five earned runs and four walks while striking out six. The bullpen had to finish the job from there.
Sandro Santana, the MLB Pipeline No. 22 prospect, worked a scoreless inning with two strikeouts. Darlin Saladin added a scoreless inning, and Jack Findlay closed it with a scoreless ninth.
Takeaway: Springfield has won 10 straight, and Ragsdale gave the Cardinals a tone-setting night in the middle of another big offensive performance.
Peoria Chiefs — High-A
Overall Record: 59-64
Second Half: 27-30, 5th in the Midwest League West, 8.5 GB
Streak: W1
Peoria 8, West Michigan 0
Peoria made this simple.
Score early. Pitch all night.
The Chiefs beat West Michigan, 8-0, behind 12 hits, two home runs and a one-hit shutout from the pitching staff. Peoria scored four runs in the first, two in the second and two more in the third, then let the arms take over.
Jacob Odle, the MLB Pipeline No. 13 prospect, started it with 4.1 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and five walks while striking out seven.
His final line: 4.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 5 BB, 7 K
The walks kept him from working deeper, but West Michigan could not square him up.
The bullpen was even louder. Bobby Olsen worked 1.2 hitless innings, Nate Dohm struck out three in a scoreless inning, and Christian Worley struck out six over two perfect innings. Peoria’s staff allowed one hit and struck out 17.
At the plate, Brayden Smith homered and drove in four. Andrew Williamson homered and drove in three. Sammy Hernandez, Jalin Flores and Cade McGee each had two hits, while Michael Dattalo added an RBI.
Takeaway: Odle set the tone, the bullpen finished a one-hit shutout, and Peoria’s offense handled the rest early.
Palm Beach Cardinals — Low-A
Overall Record: 62-62
Second Half: 29-29, 2nd in the Florida State League East, 6.5 GB
Streak: L1
Dunedin 5, Palm Beach 4
Palm Beach had this one in position, but could not finish it.
The Cardinals led 4-1 after the top of the sixth before Dunedin scored four in the bottom half and held on for a 5-4 win.
J.P. Cabrera went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Trevor Condon went 1-for-3 with an RBI and two walks. Alexander Frias, the MLB Pipeline No. 4 prospect, went 1-for-4 with a walk. Travis Honeyman reached three times with a hit and two walks and stole a base. Matthew Miura had a hit, a walk, a run scored and two stolen bases.
On the mound, Payton Graham gave Palm Beach 3.2 scoreless innings, allowing two hits and two walks while striking out two. JR Fordham got the final out of the fourth, but Dunedin’s four-run sixth changed the game.
Takeaway: Palm Beach had the lead, but the four-run sixth inning was the difference in a 5-4 loss.

The walks were there, but the damage was not. He allowed only one hit, struck out seven and handed the game to a bullpen that finished the shutout.
The Final Word - Springfield is the headline once again.
The Cardinals have won 10 straight, lead the Texas League North by six games and continue to get impact nights from ranked prospects. This time it was Ragsdale reaching base five times and scoring three runs, with Cho driving in four and Peete continuing to stay hot.
Peoria had the pitching performance of the night, throwing a one-hit shutout with 17 strikeouts. Odle started it, and the bullpen finished it.
Palm Beach let one slip away late, while Memphis had the night washed out in Charlotte.
The completed affiliates finished 2-1.
