Farm System Flexes Muscles in Two Blowout Wins on the Day
St. Louis, Mo.

The St. Louis Cardinals farm system closed out the weekend with a split on Sunday, powered by a thunderous offensive outburst in Peoria, a statement win from Memphis, and standout performances from two rising names in the organization — Won-Bin Cho and Nate Dohm.

The four affiliates combined to go 2-2, with the biggest headline coming from High-A Peoria, where the Chiefs battered Cedar Rapids 16-6 behind Cho’s five-RBI explosion and Dohm’s sharp outing on the mound.

Meanwhile, Memphis continues to look every bit like a first-place club.

Memphis Redbirds
That's a Winner! -Redbirds 14, Tides 4
Record: 18-9, 1st Place

The Memphis Redbirds wrapped up their six-game road trip in emphatic fashion, hammering Norfolk 14-4 at Harbor Park.

Memphis broke the game open with a stunning nine-run third inning — the kind of crooked number that makes opposing managers stare into the middle distance and reconsider life choices.

Every one of the 10 Redbirds who came to the plate reached base safely.

Joshua Báez led the attack with a 3-for-6 day, including an RBI triple. Blaze Jordan and Cesar Prieto each went deep, and Memphis finished 5-for-15 with runners in scoring position.

On the mound, Quinn Mathews allowed just one run over four innings, striking out five, while the bullpen delivered clean relief work.

Most importantly, Memphis remains exactly where you want your Triple-A club — atop the standings.

Springfield Cardinals
Another Tough Loss - RockHounds 4, Cardinals 2
Record: 7-14, 5th Place

The Springfield Cardinals dropped Sunday’s finale to Midland in what marked the final game played under the historic Hammons Field name before the ballpark officially became Route 66 Stadium.

It was the end of one chapter — and the beginning of another.

Before first pitch, Springfield players received their 2025 Texas League Championship rings, a reminder that while this season has been rocky, championship pedigree still runs through that clubhouse.

Switch-pitcher Jurrangelo Cijntje retired the first six hitters he faced, flashing electric stuff early, but Midland tagged him for three runs in the fourth inning and handed him the loss.

After the second inning, Springfield’s offense went quiet — no hits, and after the fourth, no baserunners.

The bullpen trio of Michael Watson, Randel Clemente, and Dominic Picone combined for three scoreless innings in relief — one bright spot in an otherwise quiet afternoon.

Peoria Chiefs
That's a Winner - Chiefs 16, Kernels 6
Record: 10-10, 4th Place

The Peoria Chiefs put on an offensive clinic Sunday, pounding out 16 runs to win their series 5-1 over Cedar Rapids.

At the center of it all was Won-Bin Cho.

Cho blasted a three-run homer early, added key RBI singles later, and finished with five RBIs, putting his stamp on the biggest offensive performance in the system this week.

Rainiel Rodriguez continued to be a catalyst, Jalin Flores stayed hot with another home run, and Tai Peete added extra-base thunder late.

Then there was Dohm.

The young right-hander worked four innings, allowed just one unearned run, struck out five, walked nobody, and attacked hitters all afternoon. Clean mechanics, clean innings, clean box score.

That’s winning baseball.

For the first time since April 9, Peoria is back to .500 — and trending up.

Palm Beach Cardinals
A Rare Loss - Mets 11, Cardinals 2
Record: 15-6, 1st Place

The Palm Beach Cardinals had a rough Sunday at Clover Park, falling 11-2 to St. Lucie.

Palm Beach committed three errors, surrendered 14 hits, and never recovered after falling behind early.

Ethan Young took the loss in his first decision of the season.

Even good clubs have ugly afternoons. The key is making sure one loss stays one loss.

Palm Beach still sits comfortably in first place — and that’s the headline that matters most.
