Lars Nootbaar Arrives in Camp

Rob Rains of the St. Louis Sports Page noted on X that Lars Nootbaar, who had missed the first few days of big-league camp because of his offseason heel issues, is now in camp and taking part in workouts today.

Nootbaar’s arrival is a positive sign for the Cardinals — he’s coming off offseason surgeries on both heels and had a delayed start to spring training.

The St. Louis Cardinals have been preaching patience with Nootbaar’s timeline, and no one should expect them to rush him in mid-February. But his return to camp activity, even in a measured capacity, is a positive development for an outfield picture that already has its share of moving parts.

It’s early. It’s February. But seeing Nootbaar back on the field beats the alternative — and that’s the kind of small win you take this time of year.
