Mason Molina Delivers Pitcher of the Day Performance for Springfield

Mason Molina gave Springfield exactly what a club needs in the first game of a doubleheader.
The left-hander worked five shutout innings Wednesday against Arkansas, allowing just two hits and giving the Cardinals a chance to steal the opener on the road. Springfield’s bullpen could not hold the lead in a 3-2 loss, but Molina’s outing stood out as the cleanest pitching performance of the night in the Cardinals’ farm system.
That earns him The Cardinal Chronicle Pitcher of the Day honor.
Molina did not get the win, and that is one of those little baseball injustices that has been around forever. A starter can do his job, hand over the ball with a lead, and still end up with nothing but a good line in the box score. But development does not always follow the win-loss column, and Molina’s line
