Brian Holiday gave Peoria what it needed Saturday night.

It was not a clean, quiet, low-stress kind of game. Not even close.

Peoria and West Michigan played deep into the night, trading runs, momentum and late-inning trouble before the Chiefs finally came away with a 13-10 win in 11 innings.

In the middle of all that, Holiday gave Peoria needed length.

The Chiefs right-hander worked 5.2 innings, allowing three hits, three earned runs and one walk while striking out six.

His final line: 5.2 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 6 K

It was not a spotless start, but it was a useful one.

Holiday allowed only three hits, limited the walks and gave the Chiefs nearly six innings in a game that eventually demanded a lot from the bullpen and even more from the offense.

That matters.

Peoria’s bats eventually carried the night. Brayden Smith went 5-for-6 with a home run and three RBIs, while Caden Ferraro, Cade McGee and Tristan Bissetta also homered. The Chiefs scored six runs in the 11th inning and held on from there.

But before the game turned into extra-inning chaos, Holiday helped keep Peoria in position.

Five-plus innings.
Three hits allowed.
One walk.
Six strikeouts.
A wild Peoria win.

That is a Pitcher of the Day performance.
