THE CARDINAL CHRONICLE
Cardinal Chronicle Pitcher of the Day: Jacob Odle Deserved Better in Peoria’s 1-0 Loss
St. Louis, MO
By Ray Mileur

Jacob Odle did everything he could Saturday night to give Peoria a chance.

Odle, the MLB Pipeline No. 13 prospect in the Cardinals’ system, worked 4.2 innings, allowing three hits, one unearned run and two walks while striking out seven in the Chiefs’ 1-0 loss to Lansing.

His final line: 4.2 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 7 K

That is a tough-luck line.

Odle gave up a run in the first inning, but it was unearned. After that, he kept Lansing quiet, missed bats and gave Peoria every chance to stay in the game.

The Chiefs simply could not find a run.

Peoria finished with four hits, all doubles, but could not cash in. Ian Petrutz had two doubles, and Cade McGee added two more. That was enough traffic to threaten, but not enough to break through.

For Odle, the performance still stood out.

Seven strikeouts.
No earned runs.
Three hits allowed.
A one-run game.

There are nights when the win-loss column does not tell the story. This was one of them.

Odle did his job. He kept Peoria in the game from start to finish, and on a night when the offense could not support him, his outing still earned the spotlight.
