Cardinal Chronicle Player of the Day: Jack Gurevitch Powers Springfield’s Eighth Straight Win

Jack Gurevitch had the loudest offensive night in the Cardinals’ system Wednesday.
Gurevitch, the MLB Pipeline No. 30 prospect in the Cardinals’ system, went 3-for-4 with two home runs, a double, five RBIs, two runs scored and a walk in Springfield’s 14-4 win over San Antonio at Route 66 Stadium.
His final line:3 -for-4, 2 HR, 2B, 5 RBI, 2 R, BB
Two home runs.
A double.
Five RBIs.
Four times on base.
That's a week of offense for a lot of players.
Springfield scored 14 runs on 13 hits and drew 10 walks, but Gurevitch supplied the biggest run-production night. He hit his second and third home runs with Springfield, added his fourth double and drove in five, giving the Cardinals another big night from a ranked prospect in a lineup that is starting to look dangerous from top to bottom.
And he was not alone.
Jesús Báez doubled twice, homered and drove in four. Tai Peete reached base five times and drove in three. Deniel Ortiz homered again. Tre Richardson III had two hits, two walks and two runs scored.
But this night belonged to Gurevitch.
Springfield has now won eight straight, remains in first place in the Texas League North and continues to play like one of the best stories in the Cardinals’ minor league system.
A two-homer night.
A five-RBI night.
Another Springfield win.
That is a Player of the Day performance.
