Cardinal Chronicle Player of the Day: Jack Gurevitch Powers Springfield’s Bounce-Back Win

Jack Gurevitch helped Springfield get right back in the win column.
One day after the Cardinals’ 10-game winning streak came to an end, Springfield answered with an 8-6 win over San Antonio at Route 66 Stadium. The Cardinals scored three runs in the second inning, five more in the fifth, and held on from there.
Gurevitch, the MLB Pipeline No. 30 prospect in the Cardinals’ system, had the biggest offensive line of the day, going 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored.
His final line: 3-for-4, HR, 2 RBI, 2 R
Springfield had plenty of help around him. Rainiel Rodriguez, the MLB Pipeline No. 1 prospect, also homered. Jon Jon Gazdar went deep as well. Josiah Ragsdale drove in two runs, Deniel Ortiz added two hits and a double, and Won-Bin Cho reached base twice and drove in a run.
But Gurevitch had the line that stood out.
Three hits.
A home run.
Two RBIs.
Two runs scored.
A Springfield win.
The Cardinals did not let one loss turn into two. They got the offense going early, added the decisive five-run inning in the fifth, and moved their second-half record to 38-19, keeping control of the Texas League North.
Gurevitch was right in the middle of it.
That is a Player of the Day performance.
