Cardinal Chronicle Player of the Day: Tai Peete Powers Springfield’s Ninth Straight Win

Tai Peete set the tone from the top of the Springfield lineup Thursday night.

Peete, the MLB Pipeline No. 19 prospect in the Cardinals’ system, went 3-for-5 with two home runs, three RBIs, three runs scored and a stolen base in Springfield’s 7-2 win over San Antonio at Route 66 Stadium.

His final line: 3-for-5, 2 HR, 3 RBI, 3 R, SB

That is a leadoff hitter changing the game in more than one way.

Peete supplied the power with two home runs, drove in three, scored three times and added a stolen base. He was not just getting on base. He was doing damage.

Springfield finished with 12 hits, and Peete was right in the middle of another winning night for a club that keeps stacking victories. The Cardinals beat San Antonio 7-2, stretching their winning streak to nine.

This was not empty production, either.

Peete led off, drove the baseball, created runs and added speed. That is the kind of complete offensive night that jumps off the page.

He was not alone.

Won-Bin Cho had three hits. Josiah Ragsdale added two hits, a double, an RBI and a stolen base. Tre Richardson III had two hits, a double, two runs scored, a walk and a stolen base. But Peete owned the night.

Two home runs.
Three hits.
Three RBIs.
Three runs scored.
A stolen base.
Another Springfield win.

That is a Player of the Day performance.
