Cardinal Chronicle Player of the Day: Tristan Bissetta Powers Peoria Past Quad Cities

Tristan Bissetta gave Peoria the swing it needed Thursday night.

Bissetta had the best offensive line in the Cardinals’ system, going 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, three RBIs and two runs scored in the Chiefs’ 5-3 win over Quad Cities at Dozer Park.

His final line: 2-for-4, HR, 2B, 3 RBI, 2 R

That is a complete offensive night.

Peoria trailed 2-0 before scoring three runs in the fourth and two more in the sixth. The Chiefs finished with six hits, but two of them came from Bissetta, and both went for extra bases.

Bissetta’s home run was his third of the season, and his three RBIs gave him 11 on the year. Anyelo Encarnación also homered and drove in two, giving Peoria all five of its runs from the middle of the order.

The pitching staff did the rest.

Jacob Odle, the MLB Pipeline No. 13 prospect, struck out 12 over five innings, and the bullpen finished the game from there. Peoria pitchers held Quad Cities to three hits and struck out 15 overall.

But the biggest offensive line belonged to Bissetta.

A home run.
A double.
Three RBIs.
Two runs scored.
A Peoria win.

That is a Player of the Day performance.
