Cardinal Chronicle Player of the Day: Zach Levenson Drives in Five as Memphis Powers Past Durham

Zach Levenson had the loudest bat in the Cardinals’ system Friday night.

Levenson earned Cardinal Chronicle Player of the Day honors after going 4-for-5 with a home run, a double, five RBIs and three runs scored in Memphis’ 12-6 win over Durham at AutoZone Park.

His final line: 4-for-5, HR, 2B, 5 RBI, 3 R

That is a full night’s work.

Memphis finished with 12 runs on 16 hits, scoring three runs in the second, three more in the fifth, four in the seventh and two in the eighth. The Redbirds had traffic all night, and Levenson was right in the middle of it.

Levenson’s home run was his second of the season, and his five RBIs gave him seven on the year. He also doubled, scored three times and finished the night with four of Memphis’ 16 hits.

He had plenty of help.

Trey Paige homered, drove in two and scored twice. Jimmy Crooks doubled, had two hits, drove in a run and scored twice. Noah Mendlinger added two hits, a double, an RBI, two runs and a walk. Andy Yerzy also had two hits and drove in two.

But the biggest line belonged to Levenson.

Four hits.
A home run.
A double.
Five RBIs.
Three runs scored.
A Memphis win.

That is a Player of the Day performance.
