Rainiel Rodriguez a Shining Star in a Very Cloudy Night
MiLB Player of the Day — Rainiel Rodriguez Powers Peoria
St. Louis, MO
By Ray Mileur
Some days in the minor leagues, a player doesn’t just show up—he makes sure you remember his name.
That was Rainiel Rodriguez Wednesday night.
In a doubleheader for the Peoria Chiefs, Rodriguez put together one of the loudest offensive performances in the system this season. He ripped three doubles in the opener, then came right back in game two and added an RBI triple for good measure. Four extra-base hits in one day isn’t just productive—it’s a statement.
Rodriguez wasn’t just collecting hits; he was driving the baseball with authority to all fields, showing the kind of gap power that plays at any level. For a young hitter, that’s what you want to see—not just results, but quality contact.
The box score will show a strong day. The deeper look says something more important: this is a hitter starting to figure things out.
And when that starts happening, things can move in a hurry.
