Peete Keeps Producing
Peoria infielder powers Chiefs offense, becomes first MWL hitter to 20 RBIs
ST. LOUIS — By Ray Mileur

On a night when the Peoria Chiefs were overmatched on the scoreboard, Tai Peete gave Cardinals fans another reminder of why his name continues to rise in prospect circles.

Peete turned in the strongest offensive performance in the St. Louis farm system Tuesday night, going 2-for-5 with three RBIs in Peoria’s 11-4 loss to Great Lakes. In the process, he became the first hitter in the Midwest League to reach 20 RBIs this season — another milestone in what has been an impressive opening month.

When the Chiefs needed a spark in the second inning, Peete delivered.

With the bases loaded and two outs, he lined a two-run single to center field, cutting into an early Great Lakes lead and giving Peoria life after a rough first inning on the mound. Two innings later, he came through again, driving in Anyelo Encarnacion with another RBI single to keep the Chiefs within striking distance.

Three runs batted in. Two hits. Another night of impact baseball.
That’s becoming routine.

What stands out about Peete’s early-season production isn’t simply the numbers — it’s the way he’s compiling them. He’s delivering in run-producing situations, staying within himself at the plate, and showing the kind of mature offensive approach that organizations love to see from a young hitter climbing the ladder.

He is not chasing moments. He is creating them.

Old School Take:
Some prospects flash tools. Some flash upside. The ones you watch closest are the players who quietly stack good at-bats, drive in runs, and make winning baseball plays night after night. Tai Peete is beginning to look like that kind of player.

The box score says three RBIs.

The bigger story may be this: he’s beginning to look comfortable being “the guy” in the middle of a lineup.

And that’s worth watching.
